Lesson 5: Write

A. Objectives

1. Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to write a simple speech and present it before the class.

2. Practice skills: listening and writing.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: how to write a speech.

+ Advanced knowledge: create a new speech for themselves 4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: easy to understand language, attention, mechanic solid waste,draft, sum up )

- Tenses: simple present/ future tense, not only….but also, have sbd do sth 5. Attitude:

- Help ss to feel confident when making speech, know how to speak before crowds B. Teaching- aids: Lesson plan and textbook.

Good morning, ladies and gentlement, my name is……and I'm going to tell you how to reduce garbage.

Most of us produce too much garbage everyday. You can reduce garbage by:

- Collecting plastic bags.

- Not keeping solid waste with food waste.

- Putting different kinds of waste in

- Divide the class into 3 groups.

- Ask each group to a speech about one of these topics.

+ How to reuse paper.

+ How to learn E well + How to keep fit

- Have a volunteer from each group present his / her group's speech before class + Correction from ss and T

different places.

If you follow those simple rules, you'll not only reduce garbage, but also keep the environment cleaner.

IV. Consolidation: (1minute)

- Asking Ss to remind the knowledge which the students have just learn.

V. Homework: (1minute)

- Asking Ss to copy down one of these speeches in their books

1. Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to write a simple speech and present it before the class.

II / Warm up : (7 minutes)

Brainstorming

- Ask Ss to work in group and review all the ways to save energy which they have learned

- Gather ideas from groups and have some final thoughts on the ways to save energy .

III / Presentation and practice (27 minutes) 1. Connectives :

- Explain functions of the connectives :

+ But , however : to add an opposite idea.

- Lan did not do all his homework last week . Therefore , he got bad mark for the written teast yeaterday .

- Call on some Ss to give examples to demonstrate the use of the connectives .

* Exercise1: Complete the sentences with connectives - Ask Ss to work in group and exchange their answers with a friend .

- Ask Ss the meanings of the phrasal verbs through examples:

+ It is dark here . Can you turn on the light ? + Please turn off TV when you finish watching . + It is important to look for a job after graduation . + My sister looks after the pet when I am away . + He goes on talking about himself .

 The meanings of the phrasal verbs : - Turn on = switch on / start

- Turn off = switch off / stop - Look for = try to find - Look after = take care of - Go on = continue

Exercise 2 : Complete the sentences , using the right tense form of the phrasal verbs in the box and the pictures - Get Ss to compare their answers with a friend . - Correct and necessary mistakes

2. Let Ss do the exercises ( 6,7 / 50 – 51 ) in the workbook 3. Prepare the next lesson .
