LESSON 2: SPEAK, LISTEN A. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, student will be able to make a report on famous places using reported speech and recognize mistakes through listening to an advertisement.

2. Skills:

+ Speaking: Make questions about famous places and then change them into reported speech.

+ Listening: Recognize mistakes through listening to an advertisement.

3. Attitude: Learn hard and love the beauty, the life.

B. Teaching aids: Computer, tape, projector, louder speaker, photocopied pictures.

C. Methods: Matching, Question and answer, game D. Contents:

I. Organization( 1’)

- Tell Ss to put their poster on the board

- Today, we are going to make a report on famous places and

recognize mistakes through listening to an advertisment. Let's start with some new words.

III. New lesson(35’)

Step 1: Pre – listening (6’)

* Pre- teach vocabulary:

Famous places in the world

1. Vocabulary

* Checking vocabulary: What and Where.

* Open predictions:

- Set the scene: "You are going to listen to an advertisement on the tape. There are 4 mistakes in the advertisement in your book . What are they?"

- Have Ss to read the advertisement in their book for 2 minutes. Then guess the 4 incorrect information by underlining.

- Ask Sts to give their prediction.

* Listening and checking:

- Ask Ss some questions about the geographical names in the paragraph - Play the tape 2-3 times.

- Sts listen and check their predictions.

- Then ask Sts for their answers.

* Matching:

- Show Sts the statements:

- Ask Sts to read the statements and the names of the famous places in the box on P133 and do the matching - Check if Ss understand the

statements

- Call on some to give their answers - Give feed back and correct

Step 4: While - speaking (10’) 1. Question and answer drill:

- Ask Ss to write Yes/ No question about 10 places in the box using the information in matching.

- Ask Ss to work in group of 10 Ss ( Each St in each group asks a question)

- Monitor and assist Ss if necessary - Have Ss ask and answer the questions check Yes/ No

- Call on a group to demonstrate their work
