UNIT 1: MY FRIENDS

I. Objectives:

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know more about Hoa - Lan -Niên and to review simple present and simple past tense.

- Ss will be able to describe someone and complete the dialogue by listening.

- Ss will be able to know more about Ba's Friend.

- Ss will be able to write a paragraph about their close friend.

- Ss will be able to use simple present tense to talk about general truths and write some sentences using the structure "not"+ adjectives enough + to-infinitive".

LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED - LISTEN AND READ (P. 10 -11) A. Aims of the lesson:

1. Knowledge:

- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know more about Hoa - Lan - Nien and read the dialogue for details and review simple present and simple past tenses.

2. Language focus:

a) Vocabulary:

- Some of active words: seem, receive, classmate, next-door neighbor, enough, lovely, smile

b) Grammar:

- Asking about people’s appearance: - What do / does + S + look like?

- Exclamations: - S + is / looks + adj

- Sentence with “Enough” - S + be (not) + adj + enough +to inf + O 3. Attitudes:

- Know how to respect the feelings of friends. Through the sentence structure in the lesson to describe your classmates

4. Knowledge to achieve:

a) Meet the standards; Practice Q&A proficiently and be able to ask and answer descriptions of a person's appearance.

b) Advanced; Read and understand the content of the passage in the textbook and based on that, you can make a similar conversation with your classmates.

1. Setting the scene: Included in the WARM-UP 2. Main activities:

Teacher’s and students’ activities On the board 1. Warm up: (05’)

- Teacher makes the questions and has students give the answers to know their favorite activities.

What do you often do in your free time?

What are your favorite activities after school?

Who do you often play with?

 Ask Ss to work in pairs looking at 4 pictures (a-d) on page 10 and answer the questions:

- What are the boys/girls doing?

- What are their favorite activities ? - When do they often play these games?

 Give Ss 5 minutes to discuss in pairs Then get feedback from them

- Call on some pairs to ask and answer in front of the class

- T corrects the mistakes if necessary.

2. Presentation : (15 mins)

- T asks: Do you remember Hoa?

Where is she from?

Who does she live with now?

Which grade is she in?

- Ss' answers may be:

+ Yes, I do. She comes from Hue + She lives with her uncle

+ She is in grade 7

- T introduces: Hoa is from Hue. Now she lives in Hanoi with her uncle and aunt. She is talking to Lan about one of her friend in Hue.

- T introduce some new words

- T ask Ss To read the new words in chorus then individually

- T introduces and explains some difficult sentences and phrases

 Practice with a partner :
