UNIT 6: THE ENVIRONMENT

Lesson 3: Listen A. Objectives:

1. Aims:

- Listen for specific information.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice listening skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: listen for specific information.

+ Advanced knowledge: write it up: how the ocean is polluted.

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: raw sewage, to pump, guilty, to drop, to spill/spilled, to leak, vessel, marine, delibrate .

- Tenses: simple present tense.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice persuading people to protect the environment.

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks, tape or recorder.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: R.O.R, T/F pre-diction, gap fill and write it up.

D. Procedure:

2nd listening - Gap - filling:

- Asking Ss to listen to the report on how our oceans are polluted. Then

Ss listen, guess and repeat

- raw sewage (n): nước thải, nước cống.

- pump(v): bơm, điều khiển máy bơm.

- guilty(adj): tội lỗi, có tội, phạm tội.

- drop(v): rơi xuống.

- spill(v): làm tràn, đổ.

- leak(v): lọt qua, rỉ ra.

- vessel(n): tàu lớn.

- marine(n): thuộc về, hoặc được tìm thấy hoặc là sản vật của biển.

- delibrate (adj): có chủ tâm, có cân nhắc kỷ lưỡng.

Read in chorus, then individually

Secondly: garbage is dropped into the sea.

Thirdly: oil spills come from ships at sea.

Next: Waste materials come from factories.

Finally: Oil is washed from the land.

1. Aims:

- Read a poem about the environment.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice reading skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: listen for specific information.

+ Advanced knowledge: discuss what we should do in the house and school to minimize the pollution.

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: junk yard ,treasure, hunt, treasurer , hedge= fence, nonsense , foam - Tenses: simple present ,present continuous and simple future tense.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice persuading people to protect the environment.

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: slap the board, write it up,matching.

- Have Ss open the books, read the poem and check their answer.

- Ask ss to compare with partners and give feedback

- Have Ss read the poem again, guess the meaning of the words by matching each word in column A
