1. PAST CONTINUOUS/ PROGRESSIVE TENSE: Thì Quá khứ Tiếp diễn

Past Continuous Tense được dùng để diễn tả:

- Một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ.

EX: Mary was reading an English book at two o’clock yesterday.

- Một hành động đang xảy ra trong quá khứ thì bị một hành động khác xen vào.

S1 + Past Continuous + when + S2 + Simple Past

was/were + V_ing V2/Ved When + S1 + Simple Past, S2 + Past Continuous

V2/Ved was/were + V_ing

EX: I was watching TV when she came home.

When she came home, I was watching television.

S1 + Simple Past + While + S2 + Past Continuous V2/Ved was/were + V_ing

EX: While John was reading a book, the phone rang.

The phone rang while John was reading a book.

2. S + be + always + V-ing:

Thể hiện ý than phiền, phàn nàn về một việc gì đó mà mình hay người khác thường hay làm, hay mắc phải. (thói quen xấu)

EX: I am always getting up late. (Tôi toàn thức dậy trễ) These students are always playing games a lot.

3. COMPOUND WORDS: Từ ghép

Chúng ta kết hợp một danh từ (N) với một Gerund (V_ing) để tạo thành 1 tính từ kép.

N + V-ing → Adjective

EX: To make a fire → fire-making

To arrange flowers → flower-arranging

To make cars → car-making

To export rice → rice-exporting
