- Ask students to look at the picture in the book and ask:

+ Who are they in the picture?

+ Where are they?

- Ask students to listen and repeat after the tape.

- Have Ss play role to read the dialoge in groups/ pairs.

+ Intonation: how about my voice at the end of the sentence?

+ Form: What phrase can be replaced by another phrase?

+ Meaning: What is the meaning of the sentences?

+ Use: to ask and answer question about dates - Ask Students listen and take note.

- Have pupils look at pictures. Ask them to practice asking and answering about dates.

+ Put pupils into 2 groups. One is the X and the other one is the O

+ The pupil who is the first to put three respective Xs (or Os) in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row wins the game.

- Correct their pronunciation.

* Set the scene:

- T uses the pictures of the dialogue on page 26(Student book 1) to lead Ss in the conversation - Ask students to look at the 3 pictures in the book and check comprehension by eliciting the answers for these questions.

T: What’s her name?( pointing to the student) Ss: she’s Akiko.

T: What is it?(Point to the cake) Ss: It’s a birthday cake.

(Mai and Linda are talking about their birthday) - Play the recording all the way through for Ss to

listen and follow in their books.

- Play the recording again for Ss repeat the dialogue several times.( line by line in the bubbles).

- Point to the picture for Ss to read the dialogue again

- Have Ss to find out the new structure.

2.2. Point and say. (12’) a. Presenting new words.

- Point to the pictures in part 2 and elicit the New words.

- T models - Ss listen and repeat.

+ WC/ + Groups( Optional)/ + Individual - T writes the word on the board.

- Do the same way with other words.

Check vocabs: Slap the board - T asks Ss to copy down.

* Presenting model sentences.

- Point to the first picture and elicit the

date to fill in the gap. Put the sentence on the board: When’s your birthday?

It’s on the first of January and have Ss repeat them several times.

- Check the form/ use/ meaning/ intonation
