REPORTED SPEECH (1) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

- gasp the reported speech: the statements.

- develop writing skill.

II. Language content:

A. Vocabulary: unit 3 - 4 (textbook- English 9) B. Structures:

III. Teaching aids and method:

- Teaching aids: textbook, workbook, exercise books…

- Method: Communicative approach.

IV. Procedures:

A. Presentation:

Activities Content

- T reviews the statements in indirect speech and explains how to use them.

- T asks Ss to look at the extra board.

- T gives some examples.

- Ss listen and repeat.

- Ss copy the notes.

I. Theory:

1. Statements in indirect speech:

Cách chuyển:

- Lặp lại động từ giới thiệu SAY/ SAID nếu không có tân ngữ:

a. S+ said that + S + V2 + ……

- Chuyển sang TELL/ TOLD, nếu SAY/ SIAD có tân ngữ:

b. S+ told O (that) + S + V2 + ……

- Dùng lien từ THAT thay cho dấu hai chấm, bỏ dấu ngoặc kép.

- Chuyển đại từ nhân xưng vào tính từ sở hữu, nếu cần thiết theo nghĩa của câu

Ví dụ : I ---> He/She ; me---> his , her

But note: Conditional I said, “I would like to see it?”

Simple Past

= He said that he never ate meat.

Past Progressive

= He said that he was waiting for Ann.

Past perfect

= He said that he had found a flat.

Conditional

= He said he would be in Paris on Monday.

Conditional

= I said I would like to see it.

(no tense change)

* Note: must  had to , can  could, may  might 4. Personal pronouns:

B. Practice:
