LESSON 2: SPEAK A. Objectives

*Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about Ss’ study and their friends’ study.

* Attitude: Help Ss to be more confident to communicate with others in learning English. Exchange their experiences of learning English.

* Skill: Practise speaking skill

* Capacity Development: How to present before other people B. Teaching aids

T's preparation: Lesson plan, text book.

Ss' preparation: Text book, notebook, pen, homework.

I. Organization (1’)

* Make the questions for the answers:

- Teacher gives the answers and asks Sts to make the questions to talk about Sts’

study at home.

- In the evening - At 10 p.m - An hour - Math - Three times a week.

* Possible questions:

- When do you often do your homework?

- How much time do you spend learning E a day?

- How often do you have your E class?

- What time do you go to bed?

- Which subject do you need to improve?

III.New lesson

Step 1. Pre speaking. (10’) - T reminds some question words

1. Review :

* Question words : Who, what, when , where, which, why, ...

* Some questions:

-T asks the Qs with “How often…?” and let Ss answer using the advs of frequences:

Step 2. Speaking: (15’) Act 1. Survey:

-T draws the table on the board ,elecits to fill in and asks Ss to copy down.

-T devides Ss into groups of 4,then asks Ss use the Qs and the suggested As on p.46 to ask and asnwer each other to complete the table.

-T runs through the Qs and the suggested answer on p.48, gives more suggested answer for the last question with each subject.

-T models with one student.

-Let Ss work in groups. T goes round to help.

Step 3. Post speaking (9’) -T asks some Ss from groups to read aloud their survey.T models first:

- What do you do in the morning?

- When do you your homework?

- Who helps you with your homework?...

- How much time do you spend doing your homework?

- Which subjects do you need to improve?

- What do you do to improve it?

* Skill: Practise listening skill.

Sts listen to the dialogue & Check their prediction.

- Write the correct words in “ Listen”

column.

- Pair compare.

- Teacher corrects.

* Teacher reads some statements ( from the tapecrip) with some mistakes, sts listen and find out the mistakes and correct them.

- Sts work in groups to talk and write about one student’s study.

- T sets the scence: Today you are going to read a text about some methods of learning vocab. Before reading, guess which statement is T, which one is F.

- Sts read the sentences carefully and predict which are true and which are false.

Step 2. While - reading (20) Activity 1. Check prediction

Ss open the books to read and check their prediction.

Then T asks Ss to read the text again and correct the false sentences

Activity 2: Make a list of ways learners learn vocab.

- T asks Ss to work in groups and make a list of ways learners learn vocab.

2. Read:

* True or false:

a. All language learners write the meaning of new words in their mother tongue.

b. Some learners write examples of words they want to learn.

c. Every learner tries to learn all new words they come across.

d. Many learners only learn new words that are important.

d. Underline or highlight only the new words they want to learn.

e. Learn ten words in two days.
