UNIT 9: A FIRST - AID COURSE A. Objectives:

1. Mục tiêu: Sau khi hoàn thành bài học, học sinh có thể:

- Đưa ra lời mời, đề nghị, lời hứa và câu trả lời.

- Viết một bức thư cám ơn.

2. Trọng tâm ngôn ngữ:

- “Will” to make requests, offers and promises.

- In order to, so as to,….

- Future Simple

3. Từ vựng: từ vựng theo chủ điểm dùng trong các trường hợp sơ cứu, cấp cứu - Emergency, ambulance, clutch, injection, victim, wound,…

- (un)conscious, sterile.,…

- to elevate, to minimize, to bleed,….

4. Kĩ năng cần đạt:

- Đưa ra câu yêu cầu lời mời, đề nghị, lời hứa và câu trả lời.

- Nghe xắp sếp tranh theo bài nghe.

- Đọc hiểu tìm thông tin cần thiết về một vài sơ cứu ban đầu.

- Viết tư cảm ơn.

B. Unit plan:

Lesson 1: (Getting started + Listen and read ) Reading for details about the situations which require first-aid.

Lesson 2: (Speak) Practice in making and responding to offers promises and requests.

Lesson 3: (Listen) Listening to a paragraph for details about the activitives taking place in an emergency room.

Lesson 4: (Read) Reading for the instructions about some more situations requiring first-aid.

Lesson 5: (Write) Write a thank-you note.

Lesson 6: ( Language Focus) Further practice in making and responding to offers

promises and requests. Future simple with "will/shall" , "in order to/ so as to" to

express purposes.

2021 Period 55 UNIT 9: A FIRST - AID COURSE

LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED, LISTEN AND READ A. Objectives:

1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson ss will be able to listen and read a dialogue between Lan and a nurse of Bach Mai hospital on the phone for general or detailed information.

2. Skills: Concentrate on reading and speaking skills

3. Attitude: Educate Sts to learn hard and know how to do in the situations which require first aid.

B.Teaching aids: text book, computer, projector.

C. Methods: Kim’s game, prediction, write it up.

- Ask Ss to open their books and look at the things on page 80 for 20 seconds. Tell them these things are often used for first - aid

- Divide the class into two groups.

- Ask Ss to close their books and go to the board to write the names of the things they have just seen from memory.

- Tell them the group having the most right English words is the winner

- Have them open the books again and go through the words in English .

- Have them discuss and write down what they would do in these situations which require first – aid - Call on some groups to give their answers and correct.

III. New lesson(34’) Step 1: Pre -reading (12’)

- Today , we are going to read the dialogue about the situations which require first-aid. Let's start with some new words.

1. Vocabulary:

2. Gap filling Prediction

- Show the paragraph on the board - Ask Ss to predict the words in the gaps.

- Call on some Ss to go to the board and write their words.

Step 2: While - reading (12’)

- Have Ss open their books, listen to the tape while reading the dialogue, then check their predictions

* Comprehension questions

- Ask Ss to read the dialogue again and select the topic covered in the dialogue.

- Have Ss work in groups to write their answers on a sheet of paper and hand in after finishing.

- Collect Ss , papers and give feedback : a- b- c- e- f Step 3: Post – reading (10’)

1. Role play

- Have Ss in turn play the roles to demonstrate the dialogue.

2. Write it up

- Ask Ss to write a story using the information from the dialogue.

decribing an emergency room in a large hospital and write the order of appearing of the pictures.

2. Skills:

+ Listening: Listen to the conversation and arrange the pictures + Speaking: Ask and answer the questions
