UNIT 2: CLOTHING I. Focus of skill knowledge:

1. Topic: Clothing.

2. Competences:

- Asking and responding to questions on personal preferences.

- Asking for and giving information.

3. Skills:

- Speaking: ask and respond to questions on personal preference .

- Listening: listen to momologues/ dialogues within 100- 120 words for general or detailed information.

- Reading: read passages within 150-180 words for general or detailed information.

- Writing: write an argument letter with a frame using suggested ideas or word cues.

4. Grammar:

- Present perfect: to talk about an action or a state which began in the past and continues to the present.

- The passive( review): be+ past participle 5. Vocabulary:

- Words about clothing: types/styles, colors, fashions, material, designs.

Lesson 1: Getting started + Listen and read

A. Objectives:

1. Aims:

- Read for specific information and getting to know more about ao dai, the traditional dress of Vietnamese women.

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know more about ao dai, the traditional dress of Vietnamese women.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice the comprehension reading skill, writing and speaking skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Read the text for details about the ao dai.

+ Advanced knowledge: recall the text 4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: poet, a long silk tunic ,slit ,inspiration, ( to) take inspiration from sth: ethnic minorities , pattern.

- Tenses: present perfect, simple present, past tense.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading for detail, doing some exercises.

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures, poster.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: Rub out and remember, open prediction, Recall, comprehension questions, gap fill .

Lesson 2: Speak A. Objectives:

1. Aims:

- Ask and respond to questions on personal preferences about dress.

- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and respond to questions on personal preferences about dress.

2. Practice skill:

- practice writing and speaking skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Ask and respond to questions on personal preferences about dress

+ Advanced knowledge: talk about many kinds of clothes, reasons, occasions which ss like wearing their clothes.

4. Basic language:

- Vocabulary: plaid, faded, short sleeved/sleeveless, plain, baggy pants.

- Tenses: simple present.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice speaking about the clothes they wear..

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks, pictures.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work
