III. New lesson(34’)

Step 1: Pre - listening (4’)

- Set the scene “ The Jones family are going around Ha Noi and they are talking about the directions to 5 places in the maps . Listen to them and match the places to the correct positions on the maps “

- Put the map on the board and ask sts to identify the places.

Step 2: While - listening (8’) - Play the tape 2 or 3 times

- Ask Ss to compare their answers with their friends .

- Call on some Ss to read their answers and give the correct answers

- Play the tape once more to check the answers

( pause at some important paragraph ) Step 3: Pre - reading (7’)

- Now, we are going to read about some places of interest in Viet Nam .Let's start with some new words.

- Elicit words from sts.

*Interview:

- Ask sts to work in pair, one plays the role of a tourist and the other play the role of a tourist officer to ask for and give information about the tourist sites.

- Show the cue chat on the board and get a good student to model .

- Ask sts to use the information in the advertisements to make other dialogues and practise speaking .

- Monitor and help sts with their work.

- Get some pair to demonstrate their dialogue.

Step 1: Pre - reading (5’) - Today, we are going to read about some other places of interest in Vietnam. Let's start with some new words.

- Call on some pairs to give their answers and correct.

- Get some Ss to read the story aloud for the class and correct pronunciation errors.

*Uyen had a day to remember last week. She had a math exam on Friday and she got up late. She realized her alarm clock did not go off. As she was leaving home , it started to rain heavily. Uyen tried to run as fast as she could.

Suddenly she stumbled against a rock and fell (onto the road). Her school bag went into a pool (of water) and everything got wet.

Strangely, the rain stopped as she got to her classroom. Luckily, Uyen had enough time to finish her exam.
