UNIT 11: WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH YOU?

LESSON 3: (1, 2, 3) I. AIMS:

1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ps will be able to listen and complete the table. Read and complete the conversations.

2. Skills: speaking, listening and reading.

IV. PROCEDURE:

I. Warm up: (5’)

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by getting two group of pupil to role – play yhe conversations in Lesson 2, Act5.

- Point each drawing and say the address.

II. New lesson: (31’) 1. Listen and repeat: (8’)

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying the questions and the answers with the correct

intonation.

- Play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few time.

Then put the sentences on the board, play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few more times.

Play the recording a few more times and let Ps say the sentences , paying attention to correct intonation.

- Do choral and individual repetition of the correct intonation until Ps feel confident.

- Get some Ps to perform in front of the class. Check as a class and correct the pronunciation, if necessary.

- Ps listen.

- Ps look and listen.

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen. Play it again for them to do the task.

- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording again to confirm the answers.

- Aks the class to read the completed sentences aloud - Give explanations for the answers which Ps find difficult

- Tell Ps that they are going to read and match the correct sentences halves.

- Get Ps to read the sentence halves

- If time allows, ask them to work in pair and tell each other how to stay healthy.

- Tell the class that they are going to write some advice for the characters.

- Give them time to read the health problems of characters in the book.

- Set a time limit for them to write your answers.

Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Remind them about punctuation and when to use capital letters.

- Get them to read their advice in pairs before inviting two or three Ps to read their answers aloud.

6. Project: (8’)

- Tell the class that they are going to talk about two common health problems and give advice.

- Get Ps to work in group to decide which health problems to talk about and what advice to give.

- Remind them to use information from this unit and

Introduce the new lesson by writing the unit title on the board and have Ps repeat it twice.

- Tell the class that they are going to read and listen to a story.

- Have the class look at the pictures. Introduce the story by pointing at each character and elicit their answers to the questions: Who is he/she?What’s she doing with the knife? What’s she doing with stove? What does he say to her? What’s does she answer?

- Play the recording all the way through for the class to listen and follow in their books. Play it again for them to repeat line by line. Finally, point to each picture for them to say the words in

each bubble.

- Check their understanding of the story.

2. Point and say: (14’) a. Vocabulary:

- Have Ps look at the pictures. Teach them how to read the words and phrases under each picture:

knife, stove, matches, stair + Checking: Slap the board.
