Lesson 3: 1, 2, 3 I. Objectives

1. Knowledge: After the lesson, Ss will be able to practice 3 sounds /s/ , /sw/

2. Skills: listening, speaking.

3. Attitude: Ss like studying English II. Teaching aids:

T: Pictures, books, recording.

SS: Ss’ book, notebook.

III. Method: MAT, TPA.

IV. Procedure:

1.Organization: (1’) - Greeting

2.Warm up (5’)

- Has Ss sing the song “Can you swim?”

3.New lesson

Teacher and student’s activities Contents Lead the new lesson: Unit 3- Lesson 3(1.2.3)

Activity 1(10’)

- T has Ss open the book page 34, draw their attention to the letters colored differently in the words sing and swim

- T introduces the sound of the letter s and sw - Ss: look at the board and listen

- T has Ss repeat the focused sounds a few times.

- Ss: listen and repeat

- T plays the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat

- T monitors the activity and offer help when necessary

- T calls on someone to pronounce - Ss read letter, sound, word, sentence - T has the whole class recite the chant to

reinforce their pronunciation.

- T asks Ss look at the sentences on p.10 then tell Ss what they have to do in this task.

Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson.

3.New lesson

* Activity 1(10’)

Show the text and ask Ss to look at the pictures.

Ask Ss to discuss how to do these pictures . How many blanks are there?

Tell Ss that they are going to read the text about Mai and her friends Nam anh Phong.

And write their name under the pictures.

T: explain the meaning of √ and x in the pictures. (√ : can. X: can’t)

Ask Ss read the first three lines of the

passage and explain why Mai under the third pair of pictures.

( Mai can sing, but she can’t play the piano) Ss read the text and focus on the information to complete the blanks.

Give Ss time to do the task independently.

Ask Ss go to the board write down the answers.

Ask ss read all the text before class and translation.

Show the given text and have Ss look.

Tell ss that they are going to write a short paragraph about what they can anf cannot do.

T: introduce the word blog and explain how and why people write a blog.

Ask ss to read the blog to undestand what Linda writes about herself .

Have ss work in pairs to disuss. then give them time to do the task independently.

Ask Ss to write the answer on the board.

Check and correct mistakes.

Get some Ss’ book to give mark and comment.

Ask Ss to read aloud . Activity 3(10’)

Ask ss to interview three classmates to get information about the abilities and complete the chart.

Ask ss to pay attention to the sample sentences in the bubbles.

Get a pair to do demonstration in front of the class as an example before starting the activities.

Give ss time to do the interview in class.

Call somes ss to the front of the class to report the results.
