T asks Ss to think of 5 things that their families often do to prepare for Tet holidays.T models.

-Let Ss go to the board and write(one S in one group writes one word) -T corrects, marks…..

-Buy cakes and candies, drinks, fruit, flowers, plants..

-Cook /Make square green cakes.

-Write/Send New Year’s greeting cards to friends/relatives…

Step 1. Pre - speaking.(10m) -T sets the sence, asks Ss to read the

dialogue on p.123 and order the sentences to make a completed dialogue in pairs.

-T collects Ss’ ideas, corrects.

Step 2. While- speaking (15m) Activity 1. Mapped dialogue -T asks Ss to close their books.

-T elecits the exchanges from Ss and have them repeat.

-Let Ss practice the dialogue :T –WC, exchange, half-half, pairs….

-T corrects Ss’ mistakes….

Step 3. Post- speaking (12m) -T asks Ss to choose one of the festivals (p.123) and make up their own dialogues in pairs.

-T gives the situations to help:We are going to talk about the preparations for a school festival.What things will you have to prepare?

-T and Ss list the things needed to prepare, write on the board:

Flowers, flags, chairs, tables, speakers, uniform…

-Let Ss prepare in pairs.Then T calls some pairs to demomstrate their dialogues before the class.

-T gives feedback and corrects.

S2:One of the most important thing.We have to study harder and observe our school rules and regulations.That is we mustn’t make any mistakes to celebrate our school festival.OK?

S1:No problem.We’ll try our best.

-T gets Ss to predict the words in the gaps, then write Ss’ ideas on the board.

Step 2. While- listening (15m) Act 1: Check prediction

-T plays the tape twice, asks Ss to listen and check again their

prediction.

-T calls on some Ss to give their answers and check if Ss’ ideas are right or not.

-T plays the tape again to correct.

Step 3. Post- listening . (15m) -T asks Ss to copy the grid on p.124 , listen again and fill in the gaps.

-Let Ss listen twice, then compare in pairs.

-T asks Ss to go to the board and write the ideas in the grid, then corrects.

-T draws the grid quickly on the board , elecits to fill in and asks Ss to copy.

-Let Ss read again the texts and fill in the grid with the right information about the specials of the Christmas.

-Let Ss compare in pairs, the go to the board and write.
