- Put up the phonics cards on the board, have 3 student volunteers - Hand out the pieces of paper to the students

Show the students the elbow phonics card. Point to it and say: /e/ - elbow. Ask them to repeat Do action like elbow and say /e/, elbow

Encourage the students to do the same Say the letter and ask students do the action Play the CD

* Colour the pictures of the words that start with the e sound. Say the e words - Point to pictures and have students name them

- Name some colours and ask the students to repeat

- Ask the students colour the pictures which have Ee in them

- Give the students 4 minutes to colour in the ‘egg’ and ‘elephant’ that have Ee in them - Go around the classroom providing any necessary help

*Activity: Craftwork (10’)

- Ask the students to take out their notebooks

- Ask them to choose one word the draw the letter and the picture in their notebooks - Tell them to colour the letter and the picture

2.Warm up: (5’) - Greet the students

- Revision of the previous lessons through ‘Jump game’

- Put a line of masking tape on the floor and designate one side True and the other False - Hold up a phonics card, e.g. egg and say: egg. Then students jump on the True side

- Hold up another phonics card, e.g. elf and say: ant. -- Then students jump on the False side - The students who end up on the wrong side sit out until the next game

-Write on the board the big E and small e

- Have the class repeat its sound chorally, then individually

- Have the students say the sound individually, correct the pronunciation if necessary Writing& Speaking

- Demonstrate how to write thebig E stroke by stroke - Draw an example of letter E using dashed lines

- Use a different colored chalk to model tracing the letter E - Have some students practice tracing letter E on the board - Have students trace letter E in the books

- Copy the 2 boxes from the book to the board and put the phonics card of elbow up between them

- Tell the students that you are going to write the letter Aa and Ee into the box

- Partly hidden by a sheet of paper.

- Slowly reveal the phonics card.

- The students try to guess what the phonics card is.

Activity 6. Circle the r letters to help the robot go to the rocket (6’) - Show the picture in the book to the students.

- Point to the first letter r and ask the students which way the robot should go.

- Continue with the other letters r.

- In a limited time, ask the students to finish the activity.

- Go around and give help as needed.

*Activity: Speed Race Game (5’) - Put three chairs in front of the board.

- Divide the class into 3 teams; call one student of each team to stand up.

- Put a phonics card on each chair.

- Read one of the three words out loud (e.g. robot), students must try to be the first to sit on the chair with the corresponding phonics card.

- The student who sits on the chair first will get 1 point for his/her team.

- Give feedback

Activity 7. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the pictures of the words that start with the r sound.

Say the r words. (Track 33) (8’)

- Show the students the ring phonics card. Point to it and say: /r/ - ring. Ask them to repeat.

- Point to your ring finger and say: /r/ - ring. Encourage the students to do the same.

- Ask the students to take out their colour pencils/ crayons

- Point to the pictures, the students do corresponding actions and say the words.

- Give the students 2 minutes to colour in the pictures of the words that begin with the /r/ sound.

- Go around the classroom providing any necessary help.

- Put one of the phonics cards (e.g: rabbit) on the board.

- Ask a student from Team A to identify the sound (one point), the picture (one point) or both (two points).

- Continue with a student from Team B.

- Write the points for each team on the board.

- Give feedback

*Tracing & Matching: (4’)

- Put the phonics cards (ring, parrot) on the board.

- Copy the box from question 1, 2 in the book to the board.

- Demonstrate tracing the line of letter P, p and letter R, r using dashed lines.

- Ask the students which one goes with letter R.

- Match letter R with the correct phonic card (ring) and small letter r.

- Do the same with letter P.

- Have the students do the same procedure in their book.

Focus Ss’ attention on the letters colored differently in the words gym and look - Introduce the sounds /g/ and /l/      

- Have Ss practice the sounds carefully

- Play the CD and have Ss read the chant in chorus.

Activity 2. Listen and write.(10’)

Have pupils look at the sentences and guess the suitable words to fill in the blank.

- Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and fill the blanks. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner.      

- Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer:

- Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction.

- Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text.

Activity 3. Let’s chant(10’)

Tell Ss that they are going to say the “ Is your school new?” chant.

Have them read the chant and check comprehension.

Play the recording all through Ss listen and  follow in their books.

Play the recording again Ss listen and  read line by line.

Divide the class into2 groups .G1: read the questions, G2: read the answers.

Then exchange.

When they are familiar with the rhythm, show them how to say the chant and do the actions.

Get groups  of Ss to sit face to face and practice chanting and doing the actions. Get around and offer help, if necessary..

- Ask Ss to read the answers aloud to the class. The others listen and give comments.

- Make some questions to check Ss’ comprehension of the reading text.

- Have the whole class read each line of the dialogues chorally to reinforce their pronunciation.

- T uses the picture of the dialogue on page 52(Student book 1) to lead Ss in the conversation - Ask students to look at the 4 pictures  in the book and check comprehension by eliciting the answers for these questions.

   T: Who are they?

    Ss: They are Linda  and a robot.

    T: Where are they?

    Ss: They are in the classroom.

   T: What are they talking about?

   Ss: They are talking about school things.

- Play the recording all the way throught for Ss to listen and follow in their book.

- Play the recording again for Ss repeat the text several times.( line by line in the bubbles).

- Point to the picture for Ss to read the dialogue  again - Have Ss to find out the new structure.

Activity 2. Point and say.(15’) a. Prestenting new words.

Have pupils look at pictures on Page 52 Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names.

Vocabulary:

- Replace the addresses by doing choral and individual repetition, using the pictures in the book.
