UNIT 9: NATURAL DISASTERS Lesson 3: Listen

A. Objectives:

1. Aims: At the end of the lesson ss will be able to practice listening - Listen for details on how to live with earthquakes.

2. Practice skill:

- Practice listening skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Listen for details: how to live with earthquakes.

+ Advanced knowledge: Write it up: Write some advice to your friend telling what we should do or shouldn’t do if we live in an earthquake zone.

4. Basic language:

- Vocab: to block, roller ,fixture, appliance, zone, container, - Tenses: simple present tense.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice listening for details:

how to live with earthquakes.

B. Teaching- aids:

Lesson plan, textbooks.

C. Methods:

- Model-Talk-Practice, individual work, pair work

- Some techniques can be used: write it up, slap the board, hang man, gap fill.

2. Practice skill: - practice reading skill.

3. The knowledge needs to get:

+ Standard knowledge: Read a text to learn about some natural disasters.

+ Advanced knowledge: describe the names of the disasters.

4. Basic language:

- Vocab: -tidal wave ,abrupt, shift ,to warn, funnel – shaped, suck – up, tornado,-majority .

- Tenses: past simple and present simple tense.

5. Attitude:

- Help ss to have good consciousness in order to practice reading a text to learn about some natural disasters.
