LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED - LISTEN AND READ.

A. Objectives

* Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to practise the conversation to understand the details and know how to describe people using “ enough to...”

* Attitute: Help Ss to be more confident to communicate with others, love themselves and other people.

* Skill: Practice reading, speaking and listening skill.

B. Teaching aids

T's preparation: Lesson plan, text book, cards, posters, tape, cassettes player.

Ss' preparation: Students’ book , workbook.

III - New lesson

Step1 - Pre-reading (10m) - Pre- teach new words.

*. Checking new words:

- Rub out and remember.

- T uses the picture of Hoa and Nien to lead Sts in the conversation.

Step 2 – While-reading (15m) Acitivty 1: Check prediction

-Sts read the dialogue and check the pre- questions.

Activity 2: Practice reading

- Sts practice the conversation in pairs Activity 3: Comprehension questions

Ss answer the comprehension questions on page 11.

- Check form, meaning, pronunciation.

- T asks Ss recall the answer of question C.

Replace: Old => young/ weak/ bad Be => learn/ play/….

- Then Ss practice freely.

Step 3 - Post- reading (7m)

* . T writes and reads:

- You are not old enough to ride a motorbike.

*. T says: join the police

*. Sts say: You are not old enough to join the police.

- T has Ss work in pairs to describe the people in the pictures in page 11.

- Ss work in group to describe a person in the class.( prepare in 5’)

- each group has a student read – other groups listen and can make some more Qs to guess who’s that?

Ask Ss to write a paragraph to describe a friend of them.

Step 3 - Post speaking: Listening(15m) T gives the meaning of some expression Ss guess and fill in the dialogue.

- Ss listen check their prediction.

- Listen one time and check.

- Ss swap their books to pair- compare and correct mistakes for each other if necessary.
