LESSON 2: (1, 2, 3) I. AIMS.

IV. PROCEDURE:

I. Warm up: (5’)

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by having the class sing the song Don’t do that!

Invite a group to do actions in front of the class while the rest are singing.

Ps sing the song. A group does actions.

II. New lesson: (31’)

Act 1. Look, listen and repeat. (10’)

- Tell the class that they are going to read a story . - Have them look at the pictures and guess what the story is about. Check their comprehension by

pointing at each picture to elecit their answers to these questions: What are their names? What are these children doing? What’s the boy doing? Should he do that? Why shouldn’t he climb the tree?

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their

- Have Ps look at the pictures. Teach them how to read the words and phrases under each picture:

- Tell Ss that they are going to practice saying the sentences: cut yourself, get burn, fall off your bike, break your arm.

- Point to each picture and ask the question: Why shouldn’t I play with the knife/ play with the stove/

ride too fast, run down the stairs? for Ps to answer chorally, using the prompts under each picture.

- Have Ps practise asking and answering in pairs.

Monitor the activity and offer help, if necesssary d. Production:

Act 3. Talk. (7’)

- Tell ps that they are going to practise more with their friends ask and answer questions about accident prevention.

- Get Ps to work in pairs. Remind them to use the questions and asnwers in their books.

- Set a time limit for the class to practise. Monitor

Act 4. Listen and complete with the word (13’) a. Pre-listening:

- T looks at the books and sets the scence:

How man sentences are there?

- Tell Ps that they are going to listen and complete with the word.

- Ask them to read the sentencesand try to guess the word to fill each gap.

b. While-listening:

- Play the recording all the way through for Ps to listen and complete. Play it again for them to do the task.

- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class.

- Play the recording again to confirm the answers.

- Give explanations for the answers which Ps find difficult

c. Post listening:

- Role-play

Act 5. Read and complete: (11’) a. Pre- reading:

- Ask Ps to look at the Activity 5 p15.

- Call a students read the sentences.

- Ask Ps to look at the box.

- T asks: How many sentences are there?(5) - Ask a student to read words in the blue box.

b. While- reading:

- Ask Ps to read and complete the conversation between Tom and Phong

- Have them read the words given and the conversation.

- Remind them to focus on the context to select the appropriate words from the box.

- Get them to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. If there is enough time , have the class read the completed text aloud.

4. Listen and complete with the word (13’)

Act 6. Let’s play: (7’) A matching game

- Tell the class that they are going to play a matching game. Tell them that the aim of the game is to

review vocabulary on accident prevention.

- Explain how to play the game: aks Ps to word in groups of five. One P is the leader and each of the other four holds a word card with part of a sentence, such as: Don’t/ play with matches/ ride too fast/ run down the stairs/ You may/ get a burn/ fall off your bike/ break your leg. The leader say s aloud two sentences and the other four have to stand in a line, holding the word cards to make the two sentences.

- Set a time limit for the groups to play game.

Monitor the activity.

- Call on two groups to play the game in front of the class. Remember to praise pupils who do well.

IV. PROCEDURE:

- Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by having the class play Spelling bee with words such as: don’t, play, ride, knife, stove, should, shouldn’t, because, may, fall….At the and of the game, have them make sentences with Don’t… and Because… .

Point each drawing and say the address.

II. New lesson: (30’)

Act 1. Listen and repeat: (08’)

- Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying sentences with falling intonation. Explain that a negative command or a wh-question is pronounced with falling tone.

- Play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few time.

Then put the sentences on the board, play the recording and ask Ps to repeat a few more times.

Play the recording a few more times and let Ps say the sentences , paying attention to sentences with falling intonation.

- Do choral and individual repetition of the sentences stress until Ps feel confident.

- Get some Ps to perform in front of the class. Check as a class and correct the pronunciation, if necessary.

Act 2. Listen and cicle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud (10’)

- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Play the recording again to confirm the answers.

- Aks the class to read the completed sentences aloud - Give explanations for the answers which Ps find difficult

Act 3. Let’s chant: (12’)

- Look at the picture and guess the content

- Look and introduce the chant Why shouldn’t he do that?

- Let’s students read the chant

- Ask Ps to clap the hands forward rhythm.

- Play recording then Ss repeat.

- Call some groups to the front of the class to say the chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps their hand along to the rhythm .

- Play games : Chants and clap who clap right is winner

Act 5. Write what may happen: (10’) a. Pre- writing

- Ask Ps to read the sentences.

- Tell the class that they are going to write about accidents that may happen to Tony, Linda and Quan.

b. While-writing.

- Have Ps work in pair or group to discuss what they are going to write.

- Give them time to read and do task.

- Set a time limit for Ps to do the writing individually. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Get them to read their writing in pairs before inviting two or three Ps to read their answers aloud.

c. Post writing.

- Role- play.

Act 6. Project: (7’)

- Tell the class that they are going to make a poster about accidents at home and how to avoid them.

- Have them work in groups. They should decide which accidents to select and discuss how to a void them. Ask them to copy the table below and write notes in it. Then ask them to illustrate their ideas on a poster.

- Set a time limit for them to do the task.

- Select s few groups to presents the results of their discussions.

- If there is not enough time, give the activity as homework. Have Ps report their result in the next class.

Act 7. Colour the stars: (4’)

- Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension.

- Give them time to colour the stars and invite a few Ps to read the statements aloud.
