1. The aims: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:

- Make an arrangement on the phone 2. Needing to get the knowledge.

- Standard: Make an arrangement on the phone about Ba and Bao Listen to a telephone dialogue and fill in the missing information - Higher: Make an arrangement on the phone about themselves 3.Language focus.

Step 1: Pre - speaking (9’)

- Asks students to do exercise 1 on page 20:" Work in pairs, put the sentences in the correct order to make a complete conversation".

Eg : 1 - b - Gives feedback.

- Asks students some questions to check students' understanding and focus on the structure GOING TO a) Are they talking on the phone?

b) What do they intend to do?

c) What time are they meeting ? Where?

d) What form of the verbs do you use to talk about intentions?

Step 2: While - speaking (12’) - Sets the scene:" Ba and Bao are making arrangements to play chess.

Work with your partner to complete the dialogue between Ba and Bao on page 20"

- Gives feedback.

- Asks students to play the roles of Ba and Bao to practise the dialogue.

Step 3: Post - speaking (7’) - Asks students to make a similar arrangement and practise talking with a partner.

- Go around and help students.

- Call on some pairs to speak in front of the class.

Ss practice the dialogue in the speaking (p20)in opened pairs

Telephone Transmitting:

- Divide the students into two teams and choose 5 volunteers from each team.

- The volunteers stand in two

lines.Teacher shows the first student a telephone number.

- He whispers the telephone number to the next person in his line. The second one whispers to the third... until thelast one.

- The last student shouts out the

number, if it is the same as the number teacher shows, that team wins the game.

III. New lesson (34’) Step 1: Pre- listening (8’)

* Guess the message

- Ask Ss to look at the form of the telephone message on page 21 and set the scene “a woman phoned the

principal of Kingston junior high school but he was out ”.

- Have students guess the message in pairs.

- Give feedback.

Step 2: While- listening (12’)

- Get Ss to listen to the tape twice and fill in the message.

- Get Sts to fill in the message on the board.

- Give feedback.

Step 3: Presentation (6’) * Jumbled words

- Show the jumbled words on the board and tell Ss that they are adverbs of place.

- Let them work individually to reorder

2. Needing to get the knowledge.

- Standard: Read and check the boxes (exercise 1) and answer the questions (exercise 2).
